The Arthur Schoffstall Lecture Series in Computer Science and Computer Engineering

The Arthur Schoffstall Lecture Series in Computer Science and Computer Engineering brings to Rensselaer the most distinguished and topical speakers in the areas of computer science and computer engineering.

These seminars are jointly presented by the Departments of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering (ECSE) and Computer Science (CS).

Speakers

The Spring 2007 Arthur Schoffstall Lecturer is Ian Foster. Dr. Foster is Director of the Computation Institute and Arthur Holly Compton Distinguished Service Professor of Computer Science at Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago. More on Prof. Foster and his lectures.

Schedule

The Schoffstall Lectures are held approximately once per year. Each speaker presents a series of two lectures. The first is expository and introduces the subject matter to a general audience, including undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. The second develops the material more deeply, but is still accessible to non-specialists.

Support

The ECSE/CS Arthur Schoffstall Lecture Series in Computer Science and Engineering is made possible by the generous support of Martin L. Schoffstall (`82) and is named for his grandfather, Arthur Schoffstall.

Nomination of Future Speakers

Members of the RPI community are welcome to nominate an outstanding speaker for this series in any area of computer science or computer engineering, please contact either of the Lecture Series Chairs, Prof. Frank Luk or Prof. Ken Vastola. Please include contact information, whether you would be willing to actively participate in recruiting and hosting the speaker, and a few words on the suggested speaker's field and his or her impact on it.
