Modeling Poisson Processes

Elisa Barney-Smith has developed a tool which shows you how real world processes can be modeled by Poisson processes.

Eventually, the tool will be invocable from this webpage, but for now please follow the instructions below.

Instructions

  1. On any RCS workstation change directory to:

    /afs/rpi.edu/dept/ecse/probability/Geiger

    From a Unix command line this would require typing:

    cd /afs/rpi.edu/dept/ecse/probability/Geiger

  2. Run Matlab (you need the RCS version of matlab(version 4.2), i.e. from a Unix window type:

    matlab

  3. Once matlab is running, run the demo by typing:

    demo_main

To get sound, you need to be running on a sun workstation, not an IBM.
