Some Networking WWW Sites
- The
Searchable Network Bibliography
- The
WWW Virtual Library: Computing, Networking.
- A good source of info, especially conference notices
and job opportunities, is the e-mail mailing list of the
IEEE Technical Committee on Computer Communication
(which is part of the
IEEE Communications Society).
- The IEEE ComSoc
Technical Committee on Gigabit Networking has a similar site.
- The Computer Science side of networking is represented by
ACM SIGCOMM,
the ACM's special interest group on data communications.
- For wireless activities, check out IEEE ComSoc's
Technical Committee on Personal Communications (TCPC).
- A good place to find out what's going on with Internet standards
and activities is the homepage of the
Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF),
the protocol engineering and development arm of the
Internet Society.
- You can find Internet Request For Comments (RFC's)
[RFC's are, in essence, Internet standards] and other Internet documents
from the InterNIC,
from ISI,
or at
OSU.
You can find drafts of Internet standards
directly from IETF.
- Communications-related standards
are covered on a site developed by Mexico's IEEE section.
- The
ATM Forum is good for info on the Asynchronous Transfer Mode.
- For IEEE LAN/MAN Standards, check out the
IEEE 802 Committee.
- The Ethernet Page
at UT Austin is just what the name implies.
- For international telecommunications standards and policies, see
the homepage of the
International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
