This work is an extension of my Ph.D. dissertation work at Ohio State University (OSU) was in the area of traffic management in ATM networks, where my advisor was Prof. Raj Jain. We continue to work closely with OSU group and the ATM Forum which is the standards body for ATM networks, and several industries, besides publishing our work in journals, workshops and conferences. My publications with the OSU group:

One thrust of the project is to use rate-based control techniques (independently implemented in Internet routers) to augment TCP window-based control. Secondly, we are working to cast the work on ATM rate-based flow control into a control theoretic framework in collaboration with controls people in OSU (Prof. Hitay Ozbay) and RPI (Prof. John Wen) and to develop a theoretical solution to the problem. We will also examine the impact of rate-based control on multimedia applications using experimentation and simulation (in conjuction with my multimedia research project . This project also has synergy with the Internet pricing project where we look at pricing as another mechanism for traffic management.

Interesting areas which we will look at in the near future include wireless ATM, TCP/IP and ATM over HFC (cable networks), ATM over ADSL and the performance of "Cells In Frames" (CIF).
